Nitrogen Gas

In nature, most of Nitrogen can be found as a diatomic molecule, which is often represented as N2. With 78 % it is the main component of air. Apart from nitrogen air consists of 20.8% oxygen and a few other noble gases (Argon, Helium, Neon and Xenon). Nitrogen gas is an essential element of life on earth and an important building block of various types of organic molecules e.g. proteins and DNA.

Industrial Manufacturing of Nitrogen Gas

The development of air separation units allows production of pure nitrogen gas on the industrial scale. The underlying physical separation process is based on the difference of the boiling point of nitrogen (-196 °C) and oxygen (-183 °C).

Applications of nitrogen 5.0 and 6.0

As nitrogen is inert under ambient temperature, it does not undergo chemical reaction with other molecules. For this reason many application of nitrogen gas are associated with inertization, for instance in chemical, pharmaceutical or food industry. Furthermore, nitrogen is used as a raw material for industrial ammonia synthesis. In the following, you will find some application examples of high purity nitrogen gas:
