Firefighting with extinguishing gases
When a fire breaks out, rapid firefighting is crucial to minimize damage. While water is an effective extinguishing agent for house or forest fires, it can cause additional damage in sensitive areas such as server rooms, archives, or museums. In such cases, extinguishing gases are used, which offer an effective and at the same time material-friendly alternative.
Extinguishing gases are particularly suitable for protecting valuable technical equipment and sensitive goods. They extinguish fires without leaving any residue or causing moisture. This means that extinguishing gases offer double protection: they prevent damage from fire and at the same time avoid water damage.
The functional principle of extinguishing gases is based on the displacement of oxygen. By reducing the oxygen content in the air, combustion is stopped and the fire is smothered. Gas extinguishing systems that use extinguishing gases are, therefore, a reliable solution for preventive fire protection in critical infrastructures.
