High Purity Gases - Introduction 1
Pure gases from Messer – maximum purity and reliable product quality
Messer offers a comprehensive range of pure gases that have been specially developed to meet the highest demands in industry, research, and laboratory applications. Our product range includes classic air gases such as nitrogen, oxygen, and argon, as well as carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, and hydrogen, and a wide selection of noble gases, including helium, neon, krypton, and xenon. In addition, we carry a wide range of high-purity organic (e.g., methane, ethane, ethylene, acetylene) and inorganic gases (e.g., ammonia, chlorine, sulfur dioxide).
High Purity Gases - Introduction 2
Pure gases in tested quality – for maximum safety and precision
The reliable product quality of our pure gases is the result of strict quality controls and continuous monitoring throughout the entire production chain. Each batch is analyzed in accordance with product specifications – right down to the individual gas cylinder. Depending on the application, we offer our gases in various purity levels to precisely meet even the most demanding requirements.
With our graded qualities, you will find the right solution for every application – whether for analytical procedures, process gases, or special laboratory standards.

High Purity Gases - Introduction 3
Classification of pure gases – simple and transparent
To clearly determine the purity of our gases, we use the internationally established classification system based on point notation. This indicates the number of “nines” in the purity specification and the first deviating decimal place, e.g., a purity of 99.9996% is classified as 5.6.
This classification provides clear guidance and simplifies product selection – especially for sensitive applications with the highest demands on gas purity.
