Argon Gas
In nature, most of Nitrogen can be found as a diatomic molecule, which is often represented as N2. With 78 % it is the main component of air. Apart from nitrogen air consists of 20.8 % oxygen and a few other noble gases (Argon, Helium, Neon and Xenon). Nitrogen gas is an essential element of life on earth and an important building block of various types of organic molecules e.g. proteins and DNA.
Industrial Manufacturing of Argon Gas
Air contains a concentration of approximately 0.93 % argon gas. Based on this, it is economical and common to produce pure argon gas with air separation plants on an industrial scale. Apart from oxygen and nitrogen, air separation units can produce significant amounts of argon gas.

Applications of Argon 5.0 and 6.0
Due to the inert properties of argon, it is well suited as a shielding gas for metal processing such as welding. The ionizability of argon is another important property. It allows various plasma based applications in analytics. Typical examples of high purity Argon gas applications are the following:

Analytics
Argon 5.0 or 6.0 finds application for various analytical measuring techniques such as the active gas in inductively coupled plasm (ICP) spectrometry and as carrier gas in gas chromatography (GC). Further examples are the use as a zero gas or purge gas. It is also applied as a filling gas for proportional counters.
Argon filled windows
Due to the low conductive and convective heat transfer properties, Argon gas is applied as a filling gas sealed between the panes of insulated windows. In this way, Argon helps to minimize heat losses.
Surface Techniques
In chemical / physical vapor deposition (CVD and PVD) Argon 5.0 is used as carrier gas to improve the interaction and thus reaction rate of the associated phases.
